Thumbs down Motorcycle Guru(s) - Please help!

I'm having a difficult time dealing one of Karla's Dad's customer regarding a Harley. I'm not an expert with motorcycle by any chance, so I thought I'd ask for some advice here.

Pretty much regarding removing gas tank, check for damages, and repainting to OEM Harley color and also checking the cruise control lines on the bike. I'd need the quote for that job and shop recommendations.

Please PM me for more info.

Thanks,
Huy

I'd nail this down but I'm not in your area.

I can do all but the paint stuff myself, but honestly.... you're plenty capable too.

As far as a shop goes. There's a good one in riverside off Madison exit right across from Malcolm Smith Motorsports.

However...again that's a drive.

<EDIT>
As a matter of fact I know a guy who used to work for the dealer who does private jobs now. He mostly does custom bikes. I can put you in contact with him if you want.

Careful, bike forums are worse then Honda-Tech....

Bikes can be had for 3,000 dollars easily, thus the people that own em includes.... EVERYONE.

Huy, What damages are you checking for and what exactly are you trying to do?
Whatever you do DO NOT DO ANY WELDING ON IT!

He said that the tank was "dented" and was probably bondo'd over and reprayed but its not matching...

I'm just trying to have the tank repainted and check for structural damage.

I was close to telling him to FUCK OFF and deal with it, but yeah...

I'm more concern with the gas tank than the cruise control lines. He said there might be damage inside and would need to disassemble check for leaks, blah blah blah...
Damage inside the gas tank?
The only reason to remove to check for leaks is to check the underside that you can't see when it's installed on the bike. Is that what he means?
If so, siphon the fuel out, remove the tank and check the welds for cracks or holes.
If you find a leak the tank will have to be neutralized before welding. Not something you want to mess with so send it out to someone else so you don't have an explosion.

Oh OK gotcha so the tank was previousely repaired.
What's your role in this? Are you the bodyshop or painter in this job?
