Wow, that's sad.
One thing I've observed over the years is that if a company sponsors everyone and their mom at SEMA, it probably means their product is so cheap that they can afford to pass it out for free.

[QUOTE=hybrid dc5,Sep 29 2009, 09:39 AM] lol, I'm cocky for letting someone know how crappy Mishimoto is and how the only reason people run Status is because they started passing out those seats for free the last few years?
Status are as nice as Brides?

[QUOTE=alexisthemovie,Sep 29 2009, 10:23 AM] Just so you know I'm not defending Mishimoto or Status. I haven't owned a product from either company. All I said was that Status' higher end seats are nice. You can deny that all you want...

Mishimoto and NRG are popular? Pretty sure people run this stuff because it's cheap and does the job on their budget.
Not everything from Japan is garbage. How many coilovers have Megan Racing sold now? Many thousands (and more if you count the BC racing, Apexi coilovers that came out of the same factory)... as long as the quality is there (which it is, since only a select few have had problems) then I don't see what the problem is. Suspension design is pure theory.
Have I seen quality engine internals come from Taiwain? Sure... Jun and Toda make some of the best products in that sector. Suspension... Tein comes immediately to mind.
The point of outsourcing to Taiwan is the cheaper space, labor and material costs.

Everything from Megan Racing & BC Racing is complete crap. I'm not sure what you mean by quality. If your idea of quality is being able to drop the car and drive it, then perhaps Megan Racing & BC Racing is sufficient, even though there are enough pictures of snapped Megan coilovers to scare any quality-conscious consumer from buying Megan. Unfortunately, most consumers just buy coilovers based on "hey man, how low can i slam this shit" opposed to the spring rate, dampening, quality of shock, shock dyno, etc...
And BTW, Apex'i coilovers aren't made by BC or Megan or any Taiwanese factory. Reason why? My Apex'i N1 Type-V are inverted. Feel free to check to out my car next time at the show. The dampening knob is not at the top of the coilover. Megan, BC, etc... don't employ that design.
Um, Jun & Toda do not outsource their stuff to Taiwan. Toda does everything inhouse, from their pistons to rods to Fightex coilovers to header. Jun does almost everything in house but publicly advertise how they outsource their pistons to Cosworth & Wossner. I'm not sure where the hell you got the idea Toda & Jun outsource to Taiwan.
I don't know enough about Tein to comment on them and I'm not a big fan of their products, except for the coilover the Evasive TA Evo runs.
While you get cheaper space, labor, material costs in Taiwan, you also get cheap QA as well. You get people who can't weld, you get subpar aluminum and steel, and anything passes QA. There's a reason why shit is so much cheaper (and crappier) than being made in the USA, Japan, Germany, etc...
