We get into tiffs with spouses, etc. from time to time but if we get angry with our dogs, they just brush it off and keep giving that unconditional love. I never had a dog when I was a kid (my dad was a letter carrier and was bit so many times..) but when I bought my 1st house, my wife and I got a dog. I have had one ever since. A faithful friend that will stick with you through the good times and the bad.

that sentence kind of reminded me of an episode of the Wonder Years show (some people might be to young to remember). it was about his dog and how it always there for him, when he was seriously ill, through relationship break-ups, and when he graduated and came home from college..

Dogs really can be great companions. My dog can sense when I'm getting ready to leave for work or for a little trip and he starts pouting, just looking really sad.
I know he'd be sad if I died, just like the soldier's dog. I would be crushed if he died.

That was a touching article. Dogs are awesome and if treated like family, will be loyal and loving until the day it dies. This dog was obviously very close to his owner and grieved. If you do get a dog, be sure to rescue one from the pound or at least buy from a legit breeder.
We have two rescues and they are awesome. They will always greet you with a wagging tail and a smile. Adopt is the only way to go imo. If you must have full breed, then yes go with a legit breeder. Dont support backyard breeders.
