What's the best way for me to get from the SF Valley to the Von's meetup place? I'm already committed to an AZ run on the Saturday just prior to this month's run. I would love to come back often if I can get away.

Depends on where exactly in the Valley. If you will be at the northwest end of the SFV, then maybe take the 405 to Topanga Canyon, then take PCH south to Sunset (to the Vons). From points in the SFV further south or east, then take the 101 to the 405 south -- from there you can either do Sunset Blvd west to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) or take the 10 freeway west then North on PCH to Sunset. While driving Sunset Blvd is a little more scenic than staying on the 405 to the 10 freeway, Sunset is definitely a speed trap risk since it goes through a LOT of residential zones and you find yourself enjoying the view and not paying attention until LE lights you up and you realize you were doing 45 in a 35 zone.

At that time of the morning, there won't be traffic issues no matter what route you take. So you could google map it from your point of origin in the SFV and be pretty much okay no matter what it suggests.

Wouldn't I need to access Topanga Canyon from the 101, not the 405? Either way, it looks like I'll be doing a canyon run just to get to the starting point. Sounds great to me. I'd be coming from either Chatsworth or Reseda most likely. either route would work. What is LE, though?

Yeah. My bad. 101! Depending on where in Reseda, you can do either Topanga or the freeway routes I mentioned. Topanga is nice. :-) If you're in a hurry or running late, freeway.

Law Enforcement. The folks that hand out tickets to people doing illegal things in their cars.

I don't count heads. People who say they are coming don't show, and those who don't say anything often do. I have generally found headcounts to be useless.

Last month we had about 10 cars. Check the vids and pics posted.

Sunday August 28

Vons at 8:30am (meet) and depart by 9am. This gives everyone a 30 minute window to arrive.

Vons parking lot on the PCH side
At Sunset Blvd and PCH
17380 W Sunset Blvd
Pacific Palisades, CA 90272

Bring sunscreen, drinking water, and a full tank of gas. All of which can be obtained at or near the Vons. Potty breaks are encouraged before we head out since there aren't many options other than bushes where we drive. Also, it is supposed to be quite warm this weekend, so be sure to heed the advice about bringing water to drink.

We will eventually end up near somewhere for food. :-)
