Meet at 8:00am, "driver's meeting" and route discussion at 8:30am, roll out at 8:40am
We are doing Summer meet times now because of traffic and temps and because of the holiday weekend. Yeah, getting out of bed an hour earlier on Sunday is painful, but it REALLY makes for a better drive. Last month was really the last month we could get away with the 9am meet up time, but even then with the great weather we ended up with a lot of traffic out there. Bicyclists, tourists, and just others out doing the same thing we are doing. My past experience with this drive is that getting an earlier start means less traffic and more fun.
Also, with the warmer weather and therefore higher activity on the roads, it's likely we will see a slightly increased LE presence in the canyons. Understandable since there are a lot of complete idiots out there doing stupid stuff and LE's job is to hopefully minimize the detrimental effects of idiocy out there (whether they do or not is a topic for an entirely different discussion). Just keep this in mind that we don't want to attract any extra undue attention to ourselves.
