Isn't that completely beside the point though?

I've been thinking about finding an alternative to the Greddy filter on my kit. It's like absolutely useless at protecting the engine from dirt and what not. I figure if I could find an alternative the MAF would sense the drop in air flow, the ECU would adjust, and it'd be okay, I shouldn't need a re-tune.

Suggestions?

I have an HKS foam/oil filter which works quite well for me.

There's 3 variables:
A) Flow
B) Longevity
C) Filtering capability.

1) Foam/Oil =
-Need to clean it every 500 miles or less generally if it's dusty out
-Flows very well
-Filters very well

2) Paper/factory style =
-Replaced rarely
-Flows mildly well
-Filters very well

3)Cotton K&N style =
- Must be cleaned regularly when it looks dirty (<2000 miles I'd say)
- Flows very well
- Filters very poor.

Those are your general options.

Have to decide that for yourself. Are you willing to mess with nasty oil cleaner and then re-oil with thick nasty oil regularly?
