I never get selected to a jury panel. I say "My father was a 25-year LAPD" and the prosecuting attorney says "Excused."

Nope, they won't check on the spot, but if they're suspicious of your answers, they'll ask for specific names of any law enforcement officials that you've known and write your answers down. I don't know if they can do anything, though, cause you would have been excused from the jury in the time it takes to verify your info...

That's what I do...law enforcement in the family= a quick out.....wooohoooo!

That sucks then... if you're selected for a criminal case, just tell the lawyers that you've had bad experiences with police officers in the past and that you're biased against police officers in general. The lawyers won't touch you with a 10ft pole, and you'll be free to go. If it's a civil case, however, it might be different...

One of the worst things about the company I work for is that they will pay for an unlimited amount of jury duty. The court was only too happy to stick me on a long trial. Three weeks of listening to gang bangers tell stupid lies.
