I don't know about the 3g phone but I have several I've used. A hybrid one from best buy that plugs into the wall and car that was like $41 but if you're gonna dismantle it thats useless. Walmart sells a package by griffin that comes with the USB car charger plus USB wall charger (extra for traveling) and a USB cable for the iPhone. This one worked pretty well too. This one was $33. I also have a Griffin PowerJolt from radioshack for $25. Its a simple white with a usb out and also had a usb iPhone cable. All these are backed by apple with the iPhone compatible stickers. I have so many because I keep on finding myself without a charger when my phone dies and those days I actually needed my phone to contact people.
