Default intake manifold opinions/suggestions

i've done some research but thought i would try to get some advise from socal as usual.

i was originally thinking about getting the intake manifold ceramic coated for 2 reason:
1) its purty
2) cut down on heat

however, if i just coat the outside of the intake manifold, that would shield the intake manifold from outside heat but prevent any heat from escaping so wouldn't that result in more heatsoak? i know you can coat the inside of the intake manifold as well but i'm scared of the ceramic flaking off.

because of that i'm thinking about just getting it polished. any machine shops in socal anyone can recommend for getting this done? i want it polished not dipped in chrome

thanks guys! (if you guys can change my mind about the ceramic coating i'll go that route)

Firstly if it comes to heat I suggest the hondata gasket as it does a good job besides the fact it blocks the coolant that goes through the manifold.

That coolant will heat the manifold so outside only coating is useless unless you block that hole with the gasket.

Outside of that I suggest you coat inside and out, price will be the same.

There's a place in riverside that's cheap. I did my turbo there. Do the silver stuff, the black stuff is pointless btw. Then you can polish after as you wish.

^ My turbo sees extreme heat and it hasn't flaked.

We're talking about SUPER thin coating anyways here, it'd probably just pass right through the system since it can handle the heat and its soo thin.

In any case I don't see it coming off either way long as you don't chip it off.

Port matched with a 70mm TB.

To be honest, I personally don't think heat/ceramic coated does anything...but that's just me.

mmmmmm idk, I think ceramic coatings do wonders..... space shuttle agrees.

Port matching does wonders for old american muscle cars, doens't do much these days though. today's cars come off the line nearly spot on, they can only be cleaned up etc. It's not like 10% of the hole isn't lined up like it is on old cars back in the day.

I hit my turbo with a temp gun before and after with identical ambient and run time. Did this on multiple days and found a huge temp drop on the hotside housing.

Does something... hard to say HOW much exactly since conditions vary at least a little but it was as much as 400*F difference on the turbo.

I say, save your money and eat better with it or use the money for a suspension mod. You'll have more fun with it.

I've seen a few complaints..... can you link me?

The ones I've seen seem to be due to improper installation or at least questionable installation technique.
