didnt you get termite inspection when you purchased your home?
yes it was done. There were termites found in the inspection report and the exterminators came in, but the report said something like there were 2 options to get rid of the termites and they did the lesser-effective option. So i worry now and then whether there are still termites.

BUT

good news!! i forwarded the image to K.K. Termites and they said it is NOT a termite!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!

The lesser-effective was probably "orange oil".

In any case... good news man!

UPDATE:

so i found more of those little buggers and put them in a bottle w/ a piece of wood to see if they would eat it. What do you know? they started to eat a hole in it. You can see the little hole in the image below. GREAT, so now i'm sure they are termites.

Up to this point, i could never find an image of a termite that looked exactly like what i had. Did more research and finally found that they are 1 of 3 common types of termites found in the area, the type that i have being one of them: Drywood termites. The upper termite in the image below is exactly what they look like:

I have a warranty on the work already done in Nov/2009, but i do not have high hopes for ridding them completely from the house this time since the first local treatment obviously didn't work. Fumigation isn't an option either since it's a condo with 4 other residences attached.

oh the joys of being a home owner!!!
