you didn't take the blame for anybody man... thats just a typical cop. I had that before too. Make up a report based on what they can put together and build a case. Good luck in court man fight that thing they'll drop the fine and what not but you're still getting screwed on your record.

 

27151. (a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor
vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted
by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is not in compliance
with the provisions of Section 27150 or exceeds the noise limits
established for the type of vehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with
Section 27200). No person shall operate a motor vehicle with an
exhaust system so modified.
(b) For the purposes of exhaust systems installed on motor
vehicles with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less
than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, a sound level of 95 dbA or
less, when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers
Standard J1169 May 1998, complies with this section. Motor vehicle
exhaust systems or parts thereof include, but are not limited to,
nonoriginal exhaust equipment.

At this point, it sounds like you are a little unsure of how to fight the ticket. I would recommend seeking some professional legal help.

Greg made a good point though; when in court, you're not trying to prove that the cop is wrong, so much as you a trying to prove that there is reasonable doubt. Your proof though needs to be based on facts. Saying that it is possible there was another white S2000 won't cut it. You need factual proof that would lead to reasonable doubt regarding the officer's assumptions.

Your best bet is to assume that the officer truly thinks you were the one racing, how then can you prove that it wasn't you?

if you want to use his video as proof, you have to go through the process of discovery.

perhaps get a court-appointed attorney if you can't afford one on your own.

 

you need a setup like this guy. Same situation as you, but im sure he fought it sucessfully.
