i think i am dying

About 2 years ago I started getting Heart Papiltations every few days,
then when I would go to sleep, well right before I would literally fall asleep I would wake up and have to take a deep breathe because it felt like my heart was falling asleep with me. Like it wasnt beating or something, scared me sh*tless. Happened alot too, I went to the doctor they gave me a EKG, they had me take home a monitor and they couldnt find a damn thing..
I think my doctor finally told me he thinks I was having an anxiety attack or something. I know it runs in my family but im not depressed or anything, my mind tends to think alot when I lay down and sometimes I cant fall asleep for an hour or so. but yeah I havent had it for about 1 1/2 years now. but it was soooo wierd.

I'm at work today. Since my last post, I've been the sole anesthesia responder to 4 Code Blue situations.
Having chest pain that is NOT exertional is UNSTABLE ANGINA and is the most dangerous type.
If you are truly having the symptoms you have described - you are extremely ignorant and stupid for not going to the ER yet.

Numbness (arm's dermatome is present, pt also states jaws) Should still check out c1-c7 for that issue
--EKG for the heart

Other people are posting a lot of inane responses, but I thought you should have some basic medical knowledge, or at least common sense.
There is only one answer to a patient having crushing chest pain + jaw pain + left arm symptoms = ER NOW.

[QUOTE=Kodokan_4,Feb 3 2008, 08:29 PM] Who cares if a dead patient is having a nerve palsy?

I did agree with you on the ER and EKG, but it's not a common to have nerve problems if Angina is the proper DX. Anytime anyone has chest pains, thats an automatic. Still have to see a neuro if the numbness persists.
But actually, it it does happen, proper procedure is call 911 at that point. Not even safe driving to the ER.

Your first response to the OP with crushing chest pain was to have his cervical nerves checked! You said absolutely nothing about having an ECG or going to ER.
When someone is having chest pain with jaw and left arm pain, the appropriate workup is for ANGINA, not nerve palsy.
Not only was your advice incorrect, but potentially deadly.

what is most disturbing is that he is getting medical advice for chest pain symptoms on a car forum. it's disturbing that the common sense is lacking.
i've been diagnosed with a heart attack when i was 24...i'm 6'2" 155lb, so i am skinny not fat.
i've never recalled having heart attack chest pain...the worst chest pain i've had was standing next-in-line for Supreme Scream at Knott's Berry Farm.
the cardiologist report states that the reason for my heart attack is "unknown/inconclusive".
my angiogram showed all my arteries were clear with no plaque at all.
definitely see a cardiologist.
