I need protection...
so i need a helmet for AutoX events and such...
educate me, i know jack S@#$
where can I get one?
what class? (sa95, sa00, m, ...etc?) maybe i can get one that will double for auto and bikes (when and if I get that CBR, lol)? can I get away with that?
i guess it should be a full face for dual use?
how much should it cost? what is the affordable (cheaper route)?
what size should it be? my head is 22.5" in circumference (just under the hat line)
any advice?
blah
thanks for the advice; and if you wanna sell me one... let me know too

I have a Pyrotect Open Face Helmet for sale....
It is SA2000, and it is able to be used in AutoX and Most major track events. And no, a motorcycle helmet is a multi-impact, while a driving helmet is a single-impact. Their construction has to comply with SA90, or SA2000. Motorcycles are rated at M class.

If you're gonna track more often, you need an SA2000 helmet, M2000 is acceptable for AutoX and is what I use.
In AutoX, multiple impact isn't an issue if you have a CG Lock and the top down. And yes...I've smacked my head a couple of times in the Celica. Ooops. As well, S2000 is fire-retardant...definitely want you want on a big track. For AutoX...well, if my head is on fire, I got other issues...
For SA helmets, check out www.soloracer.com. For M2000 helmets, I like the selection at Cycle Gear: www.cyclegear.com (they have more in the store, too). For SA, you're looking at over $200, for M2000 expect to pay about $90 and above. Definitely try them on for fit...it should fit very snugly, but not give you a headache.

Sube Sports in Huntington Beach I've heard is a good place: http://www.subesports.com/products/?cartID...192&cat=Helmets
Make sure you try on a helmet for proper fit before you buy it. Ordering online can be hit and miss unless you already know what fits you.
The Bieffe Predator is what I use and it's a great value, but I don't know where sells them in LA.

the only difference in a $200 helmet and a 5-1000 helmet is comfort. All the companies fit a little different, so try a few on. it should be snug and not have any noticeable pressure points on any particular part of your head.
