Default I Just *Messed Up* someones life....

Time: Sunday 12:30am
Location: 5S passing Eltoro

I felt really bad, and almost hung up my phone to 911. An Impala was going against traffic in the carpool lane and made a U turn in the freeway to self correct himself.

At 1st I thought he spun out and made a STUPID uturn to get back on track. My better half said, I think he's drunk. We proceeded to slow down, and watched him. He was everywhere on the road. I picked up my phone again, and this time pressed 911.

I told the dispatcher the car, model, plates, and direction. I proceeded to follow him, just in case, but he exited. We stayed as far as possible, but he exited and flips a FAT illegal uturn in the middle of nowhere and headed to the freeway again. I wanted to follow him, but I wasn't going to break the law to help him in case he crashed.

The operator says he will be caught, hopefully before he hurts someone, or himself. I would have hung up the phone, but his driving was beyond reckless.

Sorry I had to be the bad guy. ( I do feel bad, but I hope he didn't hurt anyone)

No need to feel bad in that situation. You probably saved his life as well as others.

I had a similar incident happen to my friends and I. A drunk/high driver was driving recklessly and bouncing off medians, another vehicle noticed the reckless driving and called the cops. Unfortunately, the drunk/high driver ran a red light and t-boned my vehicle in the very next intersection. Thankfully the witness stayed and reported everything to the police when they arrived.

He sounds a) drunk b) suicidal c) homicidal, or a combination. No matter which, he needed to be taken off the road.

You did the right thing, BC

I wonder if there is a way to follow up to what happened?

The evening news?

You did the right thing BC - you didn't mess up his/her life, s/he did when s/he got behind the wheel. If that had been someone running around waving a loaded gun, you wouldn't think twice about calling 911. In this case, a drunk driver behind the wheel is even more dangerous because they can keep killing without running out of bullets.

I believe you generated positive kharma for potentially saving the lives s/he would have taken, so don't feel bad like you hurt this person - you probably even saved the drunk driver's life too!
