How's seat theft down there?
I'm currently up in Seattle; I lived in LA for five years and am planning on moving back in about three weeks because I miss the sunshine and all that... well, that and the $15k in damage that's been inflicted on my S2k in a year (top cut three times, seats stolen once and current locked-in seats were slashed, broadsided in parking lot)...
When I was back down there, I had a Jetta that was never messed with; how's seat theft in the LA/OC/SFV/SGV areas? I don't see any threads about it on the first page, which is a good sign; in the PNW section, there's almost always a new one every few days, and we have a thread of seats on CL that we flag to try to discourage it.

i don't think it's too bad. haven't seen many threads regarding seat theft. i don't personally know anyone that has had their seats stolen either. i think the thieves are all still too busy stealing civics and integras.

LA is usually pretty good. I know Seattle its because there is nothing to do up there so people can get really crazy plus the 90% gloomy weather.. so Ive been told.
But still depends where you go, there are always crazies out there. I dont think LA is as bad as that in Seattle.
plus you can always buy seat locks... i forgot who sells them but look in the search

Yeah, I learned the hard way and got a good alarm installed and then devised my own seatlocks; the last time the top was cut I'm pretty sure they were going for the seats, but they didn't get them and slashed the driver's seat in response.
$500 deductibles sure suck.

On the other hand, I do have seat locks, just in case, for when I travel and park in hotel parking lots. Got them from Kodakan. I don't think he's around anymore.

Not sure about seat thefts, but there are major car theft ring going around right now. My Porsche 993 was literally a gone in 60 seconds deal from my driveway about 2 months ago.
Though everyone I talk to keeps joking about the possibility of having a slashed top, that's pretty annoying.
