If you wanna play it safe, see where they are registered at, see what the average price is on what they picked out.
$500 i think is generous if it's a small wedding, if it's a big wedding then it might be fair.
Like someone mentioned, depending on the wedding is what you should give.

Well, I don't know about you guys....but I think $500 is generous enough, and it's his homie of 20 years.

Damn, $500 When we got married, all of our friends were just starting out in their careers or just graduating from law school/grad school so everyone was broke as a joke
