hmmm... depends. It sucks as answer, but it's true. I just got married last month. Some people gave gifts only, some gave like $1k+. Most gave $100, regardless of how well or how little I knew them.

we didnt cover for anyones - they ( bridesmaid / groomsmen) sprung for their own ( it should be an honor to be included in the wedding party)
we got alot of 1k checks - but those were from uncles/aunties ( sponsors) we also got a ton of 500 / 100...
dont worry too much about it - its not the amount thats important - its the day / cause.
whatever amount you give is generous enough.
sidenote - we also got a grip of 20's and not to mention dollar bills ( money dance)!!
as far as the party goes - SD downtown ( if you guys are dressing up) or PB if you guys are dressing down-----> then..... theres alwys TJ!!!!!!

Yea I'm pretty sure they want money, and not gifts. Unless its car parts for him Damn 1k sounds real good tho, but was that given to you by a family or from an individual person.
Hmm just thought about that, my parents have known him all this time too...duh Andre combine the gift

I just got married and go to tons of weddings now.
If you and a guest are going to the wedding, $400 is good. More if you want. Go with cash. No checks. No gift cards.
