what i don't get is, why doesn't the guy just make a trip to Pep Boys and buy one of those handheld pumps specifically designed for filling transmissions and differential.

If I get the time to go to Lowe's, I'll pick up some clear 3/8" tubing and give it a try just for grins. My curiousity is around how well a seal can be formed around the inflator pin. This will be a kick in the pants if it explodes!
Drilling is not a good idea because of the plastic bits that could drop off into the oil. Seems like tapping the inflator needle into the plastic jug makes more sense but, again, not sure it will seal. He also notes problems with sealing the hole in the jug's cap. Hmm, bet there's a grommet around that'll work.

As for the exploading... jsut wrap the bottle in a bag or put it in a box by itself
