I absolutely agree.

You know what the sad part is? You total on a track, you're (usually) on your own. You total street racing or canyon running, and insurance covers you.

yeah, I am looking into the extremespeed track events. I want to go but because I am a total newbie I am nervous. Also my car is a 02 and I dont want to blow it up racing as it is my daily driver.

I'd recommend you come to the SV S2K Challenge events, but the next 2 events coming up are at high dollar venues (Spring Mountain in May, and Laguna Seca in June).

We make sure the newbies get some instruction from veterans (as long as we know you're new and let us know)

Would you recommend against a high mileage car going to a track event?

I think Mike Tsay (dipstick) has the highest mileage, and he's in the 18xk range, IIRC.

As long as the car is maintained, you'll be fine. I've yet to see a s2k motor blow that isn't an error on the owner's part in some way shape or form, minus 00/01 AP1s. (If you modify the car, do it right)

Mine is pushing what you said 185K+. I have done all the maintenance myself and oil changes every 5k miles. Just changed all the fluids as well. I think I will do it. What track would you recommend for a beginner? Streets of willow or the big track?

Streets... unless you're ready to do triple digit speeds at WSIR

It really doesn't matter too much as you'll be going easy
