Default Hood latch not working

Hello guys, this isn't s2k related but I need help. The wife's car battery died and I was trying to pop the hood latch but I think the cable is broken. I can't get under the hood to replace the battery, any ideas on how to fix this? We have a 2006 Civic EX. I tried pulling the cable from underneath the driver side fender and no luck (because its broke). Hopefully I get some feedback, thanks!

Just use some pliers and get a good bite on the cable itself then a nice tug and you should be good. Of course disconnect it first from the hood release switch under the dash

Are you pulling on the correct part? the cables are usually insulated by a plastic covering. you have to make sure you pull the actual cable that is inside the plastic tubing.

Thanks for the replies guys. I actually used a longer flat head and was able to give the cable an extra push. It was caught on a grove under the latch itself so I had to do it from underneath but it works well now. Thanks again!
