Default TO Honda and TSBs

My S is in the shop at Thousand Oaks Honda having the following done:

1. TSB054 - rattle on decel in 3rd gear
2. TSB055 - second gear grind
3. Spark plug recall

I just thought I would let you know that I was told about a mechanic there by the name of Jeremy. He rode with me and confirmed the decel rattle. Although we couldn't duplicate the 2nd gear grind (which as you probably know is very random and intermittent), he ordered a new 1st and 2nd gear set - which tells me he did whatever AHM requires to confirm the problem in order to fix it under warranty.

He has done these fixes on a few S2000s - he used to work at Honda of Oxnard. So if anyone is looking for a dealer in the northern metro area or Ventura County with a mechanic familiar with the S, I would suggest taking this route. I've beein working with the service writer by the name of Brad.

I will update this thread when I get the car back - probably tomorrow or Friday.

:keeping my fingers crossed:

Damn, you are lucky. Goudy Honda took care of TSB054 and the spark plug update for me. They also have problem reproducing the 1-2 grind. They refused to perform TSB055 until they can reproduce the problem .

I got my car back. I saw the old parts, and sure enough I have a new 1st and 2nd gears, and a new clutch.

Haven't driven it at speed yet to confirm that anything is fixed, but at least the work is done, and everything went smoothly.

How bad was your rattle/buzz? I have one, but it isn't extremely profound. It was very noisy once, and I can't get it to do it again. There is a quiet buzz on decel, and I'm afraid that they will blow me off.

S2K_REDHEAD... Great post! Check out my post regarding, what seems to be the same issue you (hopefully) WERE dealing with.

I would be very intereted to know if the TSB had a postive outcome on your 2nd gear grind problem. I am also thinking of taking my car to TO Honda for the TSB (plus some other things); but first i am going to change the Transmission Fluid and have the clutch adjusted-- just to see-- before i have them take apart the transmission again.
