This is actually what I suspected at first and did a brief visual check but I couldn't see some parts. But I don't see how it would cause the pads to not contact the rotor.

I've driven one, I agree it was a bit hard but remember for the track it's different because you're always moving along quick.
Where it sucks is a parking lot or having to parallel park.
