i have a similar set up on my car, 225/45 and 255/40. my rims are the same sizes (7.5 and 8.5). I rubbed a bit in the rear before i rolled my fenders, but i'm on softer springs(bilstein pss9). A safer set up without needing to roll your fenders would be 215/45 and 245/40. hopefully someone with more knowledge could help.

I have to get tires soon and I was planning to go with 225 and 265/275. I've got 215/255 now. Do you think the tire shop will let me try on the tire to see if it will rub before I get it?

Robert, some will allow you to. Just have to ask. I did at Americas Tire Co.

225/255 is the best fitment...that's what I'm running now. Although I believe I have 45s in the front and 40s in the rears

I have...

17 x 7.5 +50
17 x 9 +63

No rubbing what so ever and lowered on S-Techs

imo 225/45/17 look a little bulky on stock wheels.
