Help! spark plug seal removal
Help guys..
I just did a valve adjustment and bought new spark plug seals/gaskets since i was removing the valve cover. I'm in the middle of it right now and i can't get my valve cover back on until i can replace the spark plug seals. I tore two of them already trying to remove the old ones. They seem to be fused to the valve cover...i'm trying to scrape the rest of hte rubber off and out of the grooves so i can put the new ones in but it's taking forever (over 1 hour so far and still haven't gotten one out yet). Any tips? anyone else have this problem before?

you should be able to pry the old seal out, just be careful not to damage the valve cover as the new seal won't be able to seat properly otherwise.. maybe post a picture of whats happening and we can help more?

Here's a picture. i've removed them before on B series engines, but this is the first time on an s2000. I know what you mean, usually it just comes right out, but this time it's fused onto the cover. there would have been no way to remove it in one piece....i'm currently using a dremmel with a wire wheel to 'brush' the rest of the rubber off. take a look:

after closer inspection, i think the inner metal ring is the actual seal itself and i think i'm grinding away the rubber that surrounds it. I'm still having a hard time removing it though without damaging the valve cover too much...sigh..
