HELP needed...intake manifold gasket, $50 or so
I have a problem.
i will be going to track buttonwillow this sunday, 4/13.
my problem is that ben (supertech) discovered one intake manifold bolt is missing, the lower bolt closest to the firewall. there is either no bolt there, or a broken bolt. either way, ben was not able to put a new bolt in there because it wouldn't thread...the hondata gasket may be mis-aligned, or there may be a broken bolt in there.
i need someone to help me either 1) loosen all intake manifold bolts and wiggle a new bolt where one is missing, or 2) tap and drill out a broken bolt and insert new bolt.
ben's guess is that the hondata gasket is mis-aligned.
i am thinking of paying someone about $50 or so to help me get a bolt in there, if anyone can help. i don't have the necessary tools to get a wrench in there, nor the experience...ben doesn't have time to work on it, as he already installed my clutch and has other appointments.
i am located in temple city.

Who installed your Hondata Gasket? Bring it back and tell them to redo it again. Obv. you didn't touch it after it was done.

someone on the boards helped me do it in my garage...so it's like a self-performed job.

You got 2 options: Cancel your Race.
Fix it yourself
or Call a Tech and that will run you 3.0 hours for this job, and will run you 90.00X3=270.00 and get to the tracks on time. Going to take any tech 2-3 hours of cool down.
Noone is going to take the resp to help you tap the screw out.

I don't think one bolt is going to make a difference.
Turn the car on, leave it idling, spray carb cleaner/starting fluid etc near the missing bolt. If the idle changes then you know you will have a leak. If no change, then you are fine.

i don't think tech's charge for the car to cool down.
sure, no one will want to tap the screw out, but there most likely is NO screw there.
what most likely needs to be done is to loosen the intake manifold and put a bolt in there before tightening down.
