Perhaps consider posting this in the San Diego specific section of the forum. Might get you better/more responses.

You didn't ask, but I'll say it anyway...if you haven't had the car independently inspected by a professional you are taking a huge risk buying a car sight unseen. Good luck!

Thanks RMurphy...the thought never crossed my mind. What I find odd is that they were not willing to take a deposit to hold the car for me...they want to close the deal asap.
Any suggestions to an independent mechanix who knows the s2k inside out?
I thought this was the socal section...is there another one for SD?

You are in the SoCal section, but San Diego has its own subforum here too.

I'm not familiar enough with San Diego to be able to recommend a good shop down there (it's about 2.5 hours drive south of Los Angeles). Hopefully someone in that area will chime in.

Considering you would be paying to ship the car across country and eventually into Canada, seems to me a Pre-Purchase Inspection done by a pro would be the type of thing you just do no matter what. There are so many examples of completely trashed cars on dealer's lots out here that look great in pictures. But, yeah, someone local with a good eye could probably spot most of the bigger or more obvious issues for you.
