Help! $2k to fix a door dent?!
So I've had a boot-sized dent in my door for a while now. Guess someone felt like being nice and kicking my car in the middle of the night. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to take care of it, and my deductible is high ($1k) for comp. I had two dentless guys look at it, but they couldn't do anything because of the size and location (right along the door crease)
Well, I got hit by another car last week, so my S is at Honda World having the trunk area repaired. I asked for an out-of-pocket quote on getting the door fixed.
They just told me that it would be $2k to replace the door skin and repaint... the area was too big to bondo, in their view.
There HAS to be someone who can fix a 10" dent and match Rio for less than $2k, right?

seems a bit high,
*look for a member that's wrecked his car and try to buy the door you need.
*auto wreckers
*door skin
I got this little hole in the wall body do some work on my moms car, they were very inexpensive and did really good work on my moms old car (96 maxima). for what I paid i was expecting crappy work, but I was way wrong, they did an amazing job. it's in fontana if you're willing to make the drive.

$2k seems waaaay high. I had my driver side doorskin replaced, with paint and painting the fender due to someone hitting me in a parking lot, his insurance covered it but all that work wasnt even 2k I think.
Also look into lowering your comp ded.
I have mine at 100 comp/500 coll.
its not much of a price difference depending on what ins. company you have and your driving record.

i had my door skin replaced on my last S. door skin + paint the side of the car, including new s2000 emblem = $1600 from Honda World Downey.
A large amount of that was soft top removal and reinstallation (several hundred $$) to accommodate for paint. If you do that yourself, may get it to like <$1300.
That was in 2002, but that was with no hook up or anything. I just bought the car 3 days earlier, got hit and run in the parking lot, and took it back to the same dealer (who had it fixed at the cadillac dealer across the street).

you can also try to find out where Honda World farms out its body work, and deal with them directly - should cut the cost a bit. But I agree with everyone else - seems high, and that you probably could get a whole door assembly on this site used for cheaper.
