Default Helmet suggestions for the track

I plan on taking my car to the track soon. What type of helmet is required? I know that fit is one huge factor. Where can I go to purchase?

Any other gear I would need such as gloves, suit, shoes?

BTW, cost is not an issue. Safety and keeping my head in one piece is

You can go to just about any motorcycle shop and get a helmet snell rating 95 or better. If you want to go all out...you can get driving shoes, gloves (don't get leather they shrink when you get them hot, suit (only if your going to be doing this a lot. I would recommend a neck brace also. You really only need the helmet.

Make sure you get a car helmet, motorcycle helmets are designed for a different type of impact. Check the rule book for the type of event you are competing in.

You can get a racing helmet at Super Autobacs. They have one for $99. They also carry Arai, and Bell helmets (they cost around $300-$500).

They where not so much "designed" for a different type of impact, but the specifications do call for an additional "roll bar/blunt object multiple impact" type test. The difference between helmet specifications is primarily the fire retardant liner, rather than the difference in impact testing. You really don't need a "SA" rated nomex helmet until you get into wheel-to-wheel competition for most events, and any Snell 2000 "M" rated helmet will suffice.

Plenty of helmets at great prices, as well as gloves, firesuits, and whatever else you might need here:

Don't have a definite date just yet. Holiday-stuff is keeping me busy

I'd like to go some time early next year, Jan or Feb. Or both

Just doing my homework now.
