You just have to enter it while yellow. You did that yes? So that should be it. Fight this.
I wrote an extended version of that sentence (about 3 paragraphs) and won my ticket (although mine was a photographed red light ticket).

But this is not a camera case...........cop got him.
My bad. I just read the RED LIGHT ticket and jumped in. It's still arguable depending on the normal speed of travel on that street (not the speed limit) and how long that yellow light stays on, but you can throw the bulk of my case out the window.

If you weren't speeding and you were in the intersection before it turned red then you committed no offense.

You can't be cited for running a red light if, in fact you never did run a red light.

How long was the yellow before it went to red? The duration is based on the speed limit of the street, or so I was told....What is the speed limit there?

Maybe you can claim a fast yellow....
I was told in traffic school that it was 1 sec / every 10mph.

I think it's true because I've seen yellow lights at 50mph intersections take forever

That's a good estimation. Below is the real chart. Notice that the minimum yellow interval time rises as the speed rises; however, California law only states that a yellow need be a minimum of 3 seconds. Good luck to greedy cities that put 3 second lights in a 50mph zone.

In those cities you say that have long yellows in 50mph zones: Some are genuinely designed for safety and have not installed any red light traffic cameras, i.e. Irvine, Tustin, and a few suburban cities further south. I have seen 3 second yellow lights in 45mph zones in Santa Ana. That's how I got on candid camera.
