Default Got a laptop. Now I need a Display...

Sheesh, I'm so clueless when it comes to this computer crap, it's not even funny.

I'm looking for a quality affordable 20" LCD flat panel display to use as a primary monitor when working at home. Why 20"? Because I can't afford anything bigger than that. Can anyone recommend a good deal or a good monitor? Or a brand? Do things like Response Time matter for someone who doesn't do gaming?

What about the Dell flat panels? They're pretty reasonable in terms of price...

THANKS!!!

you can even come over and hook your laptop up to it if you want to test it out.

Meth, I'm not going to click on your link because I think I know which link it is. I don't want a "big ass" display, unless it's an LCD panel, and under $400...

I got a macbook. Which means unequivocably that they are going to (a) jump in speed (2) drop in price or (D) both in exactly 31 days. Enjoy my sacrifice, you mac heads you .

I hate the rapid moving world of technology. Just like a car... it was worth half the value when I walked out the door...

COOL! Good for you I don't have any advice about flat panels... I still prefer flat CRTs

The Dell flat panels are decent in terms of contrast ratio and color accuracy... response time shouldn't matter much to you if you don't do gaming, and all modern LCD's are more than fast enough for games anyways. What does your budget look like? Dell always has deals on their 20" LCDs, and you can usually get em for around $350 or less when they're on sale. If you want something a little better, I'd recommend going for a Viewsonic. They don't cost much more than a Dell LCD these days...

I use www.newegg.com to check out equipment because of the customer ratings. Then I double check the manufacturer part number on froogle to price check it.

This one is pretty cheap: $300 for a 22" widescreen LCD.

Can anyone recommend or NOT recommend this Acer?

Or how about this Viewsonic from Costco?

Thanks again!

I'd say go for the Viewsonic... if their LCDs are as good as their CRTs, you're good to go

I do photoshop on my 24'' Dell widescreen LCD. I wouldn't go any smaller than a 24''

Come on man, you can afford it! You drive a S2k!
