Going to the China/Japan....
I should've started this thread sooner, but better late than never.
So I'm going to China for the Olympics and then shortly after to Japan. Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for places to visit?
Our schedule for China is pretty set, but if it's something small, I'm sure we can manage to fit it in. Also, for Japan, anyone have any unique places to visit or cool things to buy?
Btw, for China, we're going to be going to Beijing and Shanghai. For Japan, we're visiting mainly Tokyo. Thanks in advance

do the regular great wall, summer palace, forbidden city thing... that was sun but i had a great time seeing the terracotta warriors, not in bejing but in china. look up this place called the hanging temple, it was an amazing site and a long journey but worth every bit of it. something we didnt do but my GF cant stop talking about is "Hugging" real pandas, supposedly you can do it with enough money.
japan is cool cause i fell that they are more english and tourist friendly, depending on where you go and what you wanna see. race tracks are fun, i went to suzuka circuit, and if you get there at the right time you can actually drive some go carts on the track if there is nothing planned. the disneyland there is amazing. and so is the food. gotta go into a karaoke shop and spend afew hours with some locals drinking all night, they are awesome people. not sure where in japan you ar gonna go but i lived in osaka for a while and would recommend the temples in and historical sights in kyoto and Nara. if you venture further south there are lots of places to see along the water, cant remember what cities they are in though... have fun!

There's so many places to go to in Japan. What part of Japan are you going to be going to?
I'll hazard a guess that you'll be in the Tokyo area. If so,
Go to Hamarikyuu teien near Ginza (Take the 水上バス suijou basu
from Asakusa along the Sumida River). It's an amazing park in
the heart of Tokyo. Go to Shinjuku and just wander around there.
Amazing place. Go to Hamamatsu chou and see Tokyo Tower.
Definitely go to Akihabara(秋葉原) the electronics district.
Also definitely take the Yurikamome monorail from Shinbashi to
Odaiba--lots of great eateries and shopping there. The monorail
is UNMANNED, which is a little freaky.
Yokohama is a cool place to visit too, including Yamashita Kouen
(山下公園) and Minato Mirai. From Yamashita Kouen you can get a
great view of Rainbow Bridge, which is illuminated at night (unless
they are in electricity savings mode). There is also a famous China
Town.
It's hard to get too detailed without knowing what you want to do,
and where you'll be. Do you want to eat? Party? Shop? See
famous/historical/nature sights?
Anyway, have a blast.
