Biased or not, a source is a source. In argument, refuting a claim based on the source of the information is not sufficient to argue against it. Argument should be made based on the validity of the data, rather than who is presenting it.
I got the same kind of argument when I posted (elsewhere) about the movie "An Inconvenient truth".
Rather than responding to the content of the movie, the other posters said (rougly) , "Oh, I see, you believe
in the blathering of a money-grubbing politician with charts to get your science? You are stupid". They may
disagree with the movie, but bad-mouthing the deliverer of the content does not make for a very strong
argument against it.
