what about running no plates? just keeping the temp registration in the window? I did that for about 9 months on my last car and had no problems.

FYI - I remember reading a section where it specifies how many plates were sent to you. I also thought I only got one plate until I saw that section and noticed that the two were stuck together.
What you read above WILL NOT work unless you were miraculously shipped one plate and it said so on the paper. It's like speeding....a lot of people do it....only a few get caught and pay for it. Each time you drive without a front plate is like rolling the dice....your call though

When I was a poor college student and used to get harassed by cops all the time in my eclipse, I used the below several times and won. Now I am just to lazy, and pay the $133 fine for no front plate.

I respectfully submit this written declaration to the Court pursuant to CVC 40902. I plead Not Guilty to the charge of violating CVC 5200.
The facts of my case are as follows: While driving down Paseo Montril with a friend on January 25, 2003 at approximately 6:00pm, I was stopped by SDPD officer Maynard (I.D.#5734) and was charged with violating CVC 5200 which the officer wrote on my Notice to Appear as "5200 CVC No Front Plate

I'm going to put on my front plate back on tomorrow because I'm tired of people backing into the front of my car. I'd rather they hit my plate than my bumper.

If you park on the street in West LA / Santa Monica you'll get a ticket every time for missing front plate. Just make sure you have off-street parking if you want to sport a clean look.
