Unhappy Extended Warranty.. TO BUY or NOT to BUY

Hey everyone,

My factory warranty is expiring this february and im thinking about purchasing the extended warranty. Within a few months -hopefully- I am thinking about buying a beater for my daily commutes. Its not a sure thing yet but I know my insurance will be alot cheaper this way. What I had in mind specifically the 7 year / 10000 mile warranty. But that may be too much depending on if I buy my 2nd car. I INTEND on keeping my S2000 for a while. I have a couple of questions though. Is the warranty in ADDITION to the factory warranty or is it a CONTINUATION from the factory warranty? In my current situation or just in general, which is the best plan to go with? Zero deductable or 50 dollars deductable?

6 year / 100,000 mile Plan

5 year / 100,000 mile Plan
5 year / 75,000 mile Plan
5 year / 60,000 mile Plan
4 year / 60,000 mile Plan

Thumbs down

AS A SERVICE ADVISOR FOR A HONDA DEALER, I CAN TELL YOU THAT I GOT ONE WHEN I GOT MY S2000. IF YOU DO GET ONE GET THE HONDA CARE. REPAIRS TO THIS CAR CAN BE COSTLY IF YOU ARE OUT THERE ON YOUR OWN. YOU MAY NEVER NEED IT BUT IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT YOU MAY END UP BANGING YOUR HEAD ON A WALL FOR NOT GETTING ONE. IT IS A GAMBLE. I KNOW I FEEL BETTER HAVING IT.

I bought MY01 certified with 30K miles on it. I purchased the Honda Care 100K mile warranty. I have not needed it yet, however, I am sure one costly item will make it all worth it in the long run.

It is not exactly like the 3/36K mile original warranty, however, it covers almost everything but wear parts.

I chose the $0 deductable only because I hate when you have to cough up money (any amount) when an item is under warranty.

By the way, it also includes towing (flatbed) and rental car when the parts are covered under warranty. My01 now has 58K miles and is going strong (except it was hit from the back in an accident a few weeks ago, it should be back on the road in about two weeks (I HATE RENTAL CARS )

The absolute final time you buy your ext. warranty is 41,999.00 miles. You're safe, if you think you car will make it to 41,999.00 with out any problems. If you are not confident about your car, then I'd but is ASAP and do a 100K/7 to it.
