Lived in So Cal for 24 years and then moved to persue a career opportunity. I am glad I lived in another part of the country because of the sights I see and the experiences I have had. Not to mention, the average $800,000 houses you can buy in So Cal cost $300,000 in the mid-west.

Thought about leaving SoCal... and did Lived there my whole life and never once had I even considered leaving, but did it because I needed a change. I am actually really starting to enjoy Arizona now, it has a lot of charm and different things to like and enjoy. California in general (SoCal and NorCal) is my favorite place, and I know I'll go back someday, but other places have some advantages over it... mainly the cost
AZ is still full of goreous top-down days and it's not ALWAYS HOT like it seems The scenery and landscape of the high desert is beautiful and different. No ocean - which is a huge bummer... but you don't feel too land-locked because the closest one is about 3 hours away (Rocky Point, Baja).
I'll always have major SoCal love

Hawaii FTW. But, yeah, it's harder to find a decent job there.
Plus, when you order your S parts, you have to watch out
for the places that say, "we do not ship to Hawaii."

In Oahu, a performance car becomes a boulevard cruiser. I guess that's fine if that's all you're interested in.
Maybe the Big Island is better for driving, but if you want to have a job that's not tourism or customer service-related, you're probably going to be working in Honolulu.
