Default Dog problems, Need help fellas

Hey guys, Well a year and 4 months ago I adopted a Pitbull/GS mix. I got him because he was cared for and raised by a friend who could no longer keep him and gave him to the shelter. I loved this dog too much too see him go. My dogs temperament is amazing, hes very obedient, rarely barks and rarely shows aggression. Anyways, Ive had him since he was 1 and hes about 2 years and 4 months now. My girlfriend also owns a dog, its a Stafford-shire Terrier that's 2 years old. Both are about the same size with her dog being more stocky. Her dogs temperament isn't the best, its not obedient and is VERY hyper. The problem is here, we have tried introducing both of them but the problem I believe lies with her dog, he is never calm and relaxed and whenever he sees my dog; he loses it. We were holding them about 5 or 6 feet away and her dog constantly tries to lunge at my dog, my dog getting defensive tries to bite hers. So I figured we can hold them down one by one so they sniff each other from behind. We did this and they were calm next to each other for no more than 5 seconds until her dog tried to bite mine. This happens every time but yet when we took her dog to the beach it got along with the other dogs, same with mine when I took mine to the beach. We tried putting a muzzle on her dog and put them near each other, her dog jumps at my dog but my dog is calm and doesn't do anything but hers constantly tries to take the muzzle off to get to my dog. Is there anything I can do here to try and get them not to be so hostile to each other?

Help is appreciated,

Thanks - Narek

Maybe hire those private dog trainers that come to your house to train the dogs?

Are you introducing them in a neutral territory? You never want to introduce them in one or the others territory.

My friend has two blue pits and this is an absolute must. Here is Dude and Momma. Dude is 110 lbs.

That could be the problem, we introduced them on the front lawn of her house. Maybe a park would be better, this might sound stupid but is it possible they already have a thing against each other so introducing them in a different area like a park would have no difference?

I wouldn't think so. Try a neutral spot.

And then when you do bring your dog back to her house. Walk her dog out to the neighbor's house and take the dogs for a walk around the block before stepping foot on her dog's territory.

"My girlfriend also owns a dog"

That's as far as I got before I had the same thought.
