Does Divorce Harm Children?

It depends on the factors that lead up to divorce.
My father was abusive - physically and mentally - during the time he was married to my mother. My mom wanted to try and save the marriage - for the sake of raising her kids in a two-parent home. But I am glad that they finally got divorced because I knew my mom, my sisters, and I didn't have to put up with the abuse anymore.
In this instance, not getting a divorce would have been a bad decision. The children were already in harm's path. Divorce provided the way to safety and peace of mind.
