Yikes!! Penny saver?!?!

When searching for a pup...reasonable price should be the last thing on your mind. A bargain priced puppy could come with a lifetime of medical bills. I know from personal experience.

Again, get a book and study the breed extensively. Then start searching out breeders. Go the their houses and see the conditions the dogs are living in. Breeders should interview you extensively and you should interview the breeder. No respectable breeder just sells off their dogs to anyone.

Ask questions, be informed. Don't look for a bargain. Sigh.....

Oh yeah, make sure you know the characteristics of a well bred dog. Know what the breed standard is and how to spot genetic defects. This will help you avoid getting screwed over on a premium priced purebred that isn't really well bred at all.

You should do some studying on PICKING A PUPPY FROM A LITER!!!! There's certain things to look for in how puppys react. It depends on what you're going for.

Hey Greg, how are pits as far as hyperactivity/exercise requirements anyways? Are there days that you cannot find time to exercise your pup? If so, how is he on those days? (From my perspective it would not be the norm but it does happen from time to time).

I love pits and agree they are a great family dog, it's a shame the perception on them.

^ There are those days sadly, I probably should have been a better person and waited another 2 years to secure a house with a decent sized yard. Instead I'm a little more selfish and wanted her now.

That said, on days where I can't take her out she's still surprisingly easy to deal with. She'll still obey commands and sit quietly for the most part when asked. However she doesn't learn new commands or make much progress on those days as she simply can't stay focused with so much energy.

I notice even 15 minutes of indoor tug-o-war and such is enough to mostly keep her calm on days I can't take her out etc. Plus I enjoy playing with her and it's relaxing for me anyway.

Have you considered an Akita? Great family dogs, and quite intelligent (albeit a little stubborn). Not to mention they are JDM YO!!!

^ Akita?

Statistically one of the most dangerous dogs bar none? Mind you I think my mother-in laws dog is an Akita mix and is a harmless fluffy ball of love.

Some info, remember pitbulls have a special circumstance where they have more bites than deserved possibly since people treat them HORRIBLY as dog fighting dogs. This is also true of some other strong dog breeds of course too but not to the extent of the pit. Next is Rotties in a close 2nd so their numbers are also skewed unfairly imo.
