I believe Spam became a staple of Hawaiian diet after WW2. Hawaii purchases and consumes most of the Spam in the world

Guam also consumes a high amount of Spam(probably also due to it's involvement with WWII). Growing up there, we use to always joke that Spam was the Guamanian steak
