I've seen Anuyen217's work in person. It's not just a car wash, and it's pretty detailed. What's great is the pricing. As much as I like a swirl free car, I just would rather do it myself, but Albert's pricing is good enough if I feel lazy

Rob (s2kologist) is a great detailer, and just as good of a photographer. If I was to do something cool to my car, the pics posted will be from my cell phone, and I would hope I wouldn't get flamed for not having a really good camera, and photo skills.
but his process won't remove swirls, maybe fill them

Haha, it's cool Fred, everybody has their opinions, flaming me will only help motivate me. But yeah anyways I think this thread was a bit short-sighted. My next detail will definitely have higher quality pics because these pictures obviously do not tickle anybody's fancy.

I'm fine with that

Can't hack a guy for trying and improving his process and materials. I for one will need any detail I can get. I'm not too interested in learning, and I'm laaaazy when it comes to that

That's the right attitude I'll be hitting you up soon, and I'll also provide the photography. You'll have a lot to do though, it's interior, and maybe engine too We'll talk brotha

if that's all the products you used, i wouldn't call it a detail; what you did was more like a wash/wax with attention to detail. some people would consider that a detail job, but a wax, wash and clay isn't really a detail for me.

a real detail for me involves paint-correction. this entails busting out the buffer to remove the micro-marring, swirls, holograms and scratches. from how it looks, you just washed and clayed the car, then all the wax did was bring out a little bit of shine/protection while masking the paint's imperfections; but a closer inspection under the sun would still reveal swirls.

you get an A for effort though; but it seems that all you did was a thorough wash/cleaning of the car

I agree. Add in some polish and you'll get much better results.

I use a 6" random orbital buffer. Although this job didn't require using swirl removing creme, the clay bar takes off exterior contaminants in the paint making the surface smooth, that's all this job required, I usually take a look at what I'm dealing with and deal with the job accordingly. If you go to ANY real detailing shop, they would consider this a Detail, claying the car is just part of the steps to detailing the car or otherwise it would be a regular wash. Good input though.
