Well screw it, I'm over this mini-debate. Surpised it hasn't moved to the politics forum yet?
I guess BC and myself will have to take our overpaid, silver spoon havin', got into USC because we "knew" somebody, holding the man down, asses to our old boys club Trojan football game this weekend and kick some duck butt.

Look, I don't buy the argument that EVERYONE has an equal shot at success. The poorest neighborhoods in the inner cities have the worst schools, worst teachers, worst doctors, etc. (I get better doctors if I drive from Long Beach to Seal Beach!).
I say the deck is stacked against a lot of people to the point of NOT being able to overcome it. But you don't have to believe me.

And do not talk to me about the First Amendment issues. I am not a member of the party trying to destroy it........

If current trends continue, it means that a black male in the United States would have about a 1 in 3 chance of going to prison during his lifetime. For a Hispanic male, it's 1 in 6; for a white male, 1 in 17.
It's a complicated problem, but, the solution begins with education. However, we probably all disagree on how to improve education for the poor.
Personally, I took it upon myself to create a small school (10-30 students) in Buena Park a number of years ago. Along with a few friends sharing teaching duties, we taught the basics: English, math, and computer technology (LOL). The school was free. Yah, really, FREE. All our equipment, books, time, food, etc. was donated.
Did we make a difference? It's a hard question to answer. I do know that we kept some kids (and adults) off the streets at night a couple times a week and, hopefully, provided inspiration in their lives. And, at a minimum, the little shits know how to use Google now.

Not to beat a dead party but I woke up to this on the first page of the Long Beach Press Telegram. If some of you would like to read the article, pick up a copy....
