I apologize in advance for so many questions, but what kind of tires do you have and how was the road condition? I don't think roads get icy in south county... I'm kind of concerned because I drive through there all the time now I know to slow the heck down.

Oh and how much tread and did you have mods that would possibly affect the handling/stability of the vehicle.?

The buy back offer was for $4386. About 20% of the value. I'm not a mechanic so I'm not sure if it is worth the trouble of buying it back.
That's not bad! How much longer is the offer good for?

The car is completely stock. I replaced all four tires w/ OEM tires earlier this year and there is less than 7k miles on them =[

They didn't give me a deadline. Let me post pics up before deciding whether or not that is a good price =D

At 5am the road is very cold this time of the year all over So Cal and the tires were almost not at operating temp. I dont remember the math but you lose a BIG amount of traction whenever the temp is under 60 degrees. The lower the temp the worse. Its somewhere around 40% or so.

It was an accident and at least he admitted he might have been going too fast for the conditions.

It might not happened to others yet because they might be on the tires limit when cold but they never crossed the threshold. The tires dont squeal n make noise as much as they do when they are warm, they just let go!

Didn't think it was that bad! Thought it was one of those cars that was totaled yet easy enough to fix. Anyone got any ideas on how much it'll cost to fix her up? A used one from a junkshop shouldn't be too much, yeah?

price won't be that bad if you fix it yourself. If you take a to a shop, labor charge will add up (along with the amount of waiting days).

you might have to take it to a shop so that they know whether the damage went beyond the LCA onto the chassis.
