Default clutch/transmission problem

well before i purchase a new transmission/clutch just wanted to reconfirm with members that i do indeed have a bad clutch. before it went out, i heard a pop then couldnt' go into any of the gears. release the clutch and now it would not go down at all. it feels rock hard and could not be pushed down. so am i correct in thinking that my clutch went out.

no, it's not the clutch.
clutch starting went out does not mean that you cannot drive the car.

may be master clutch cylinder/slave clutch cylinder??

other idea?

i had the cylinder goes out before and the pedal dropped to the floor. A few people on the forum told me before that when the clutch is about to go out. the pedal would get soft/hard and continous till you're locked out of all gears.

really?
I guess it doesn't happen to me then.

I only smelled burning clutch.
with the gas pedal going down, rpm goes up, my car only holds the same speed.
but i didn't encounter any transmission problem.

Before my clutch went, pressing the accelerator (while in gear) would just make the engine rev (without going any faster) and the clutch pedal felt spongy.

If that helps.

The last time I got locked out of gear it turned out to be the spring retainers in the clutch broke completely into pieces leaving no tension in the springs.

Can it be a seized/damaged throwout bearing?

Was your clutch stuck? stiff to the point where it can't be pushed down?

thanks everybody for the info so after alot of research, these are the things ill be looking to. master cylinder, linkage, shift fork, throw out bearing???? is there anything else im missing that i should look into?

Im sure something is broken since me and my passenger did hear a "POP" when i pushed on the clutch.

I'm pretty positive it is the clutch. Most likely the spring in the clutch disk broke out and is dangling around in the pressure plate. Now the pedal won't go down softly because the pressure plate fingers are all screwed up from the popped out spring. I can change the clutch for you at my shop in Garden Grove if your interested. Of course I need to diagnose the car in person first before any recommendation can be done. Let me know. Thanks
