P.S. Religion = Crap
I don't know what you think you gain or how you hope to possibly
contribute by making a comment such as this, but I'll bite. We can
quickly expect to find this thread locked or moved to politics or something,
but what else have we got to lose?
So, your comment begs the question. What about religion is crap?
Are you so wise as to know the ultimate answer to life, the universe
and everything all by your little self with your puny little human brain
and puny little body on a puny little spot of the universe that the earth
is? How can you possibly claim such a thing? I certainly can't. But
I see the vastness of the universe, the impossible (not hyperbole!)
complexity of a naturally occurring structure like DNA (or even the
amino acid constituents), and I find it easy to conclude that a designer
was involved with the creation of this place. I don't call my beliefs
"religion", bringing along the negative connotation that the word has.
Many TV evangelists and their ilk have brought the word into the mud,
turning people off to the idea of church and God. It's unfortunate.
Try being open minded--consider the facts, the ideas that are presented
as fact, and the world around you. Think before judging.
Anyway, I still say religion/church/etc has nothing and should have nothing
to do with this accident. It was a sad event, and helping out the family
of the guy is fine for those who wish to. Try not to be too disparaging
about people helping each other.

If the Dad lives where Bert thinks he lives I am sure they are "comfortable". Why ask your congregation for money??????? Don't they give you enough every Sunday???
Look at their financials and then try again.

I think organized religion can sometimes be useless and cause harm.

Not even the best scientist, or the most Holy pastor alive can tell you 100 percent what happens after you die. The way I see it, if you believe in God and somehow isnt true then nothing happens right? What about vice versa???
