im sure there are alot of people who felt they "knew" this person and wanted to help out, whether this family needed the financial help or not.
Sorry, could not resist.......

Looking at his driving record, we can thank the stars he didn't kill anyone else. While I agree this is a tragedy for his family and friends, it is likely the will of God that spared others from his wreckless driving habits.

Yeah, I'm sure the family is strapped for cash.
What makes you think Christopher was a rich guy?
The salaries of most (legitimate) church employees is not
what you might think. I can't speak for the Catholic church,
but as I posted before, Harvest has spent more than it earns
in previous years. Their entire income was not even a million
in 2005 (don't know about now). After paying building fees,
utilities, salaries, and the tons of programs they sponsor, people
are not getting rich off of it. Christopher was "art director" (I
believe), and was probably salaried. If his wife was a stay-at-home
mom, you bet she'll be strapped for cash.
Don't put your religious prejudices onto one church or one guy
without checking it out first.
OK, seriously going to lunch now!

You're worse than me.
I never thought I'd say that.
And thanks for the compliment!

Paesano, relax! I was not referring to Christopher, but to the family.
If the Dad lives where Bert thinks he lives I am sure they are "comfortable". Why ask your congregation for money??????? Don't they give you enough every Sunday???
