credit counseling/debt consultation is basically one ####ing step away from declaring bk. and if the cc company agrees to "close" account as paid-in-full but then at the last minute say due to some bullsh*t fineprint in a contract, they had to decline it, but can "compromise" and leave it as "settled", then youre ####ed. LOL.

Don't give up any cash until they send the agreement in writing.
