credit counseling/debt consultation is basically one ####ing step away from declaring bk. and if the cc company agrees to "close" account as paid-in-full but then at the last minute say due to some bullsh*t fineprint in a contract, they had to decline it, but can "compromise" and leave it as "settled", then youre ####ed. LOL.

You guys are thinking too low. Some people in Foothill Ranch maxed out their HELOC's in 2006. Sat on all that cash, then bought a home in the 909 with part of that cash. Paid for the 909 home for cash, let the Foothill Ranch home go to foreclosure.

My neighbor maxed out his HELOC and bought his/her vehicles for cash and split. House is sitting empty.
