Catalytic Converters need replacement? From same m
So, my DD (Altima with 122k miles) throw a CEL. My mechanic pull the code and said it should be the catalytic converter needs replacement.
Should I go with the one from manufacturer (Nissan Dealer) or aftermarket?
There seems to be a huge price difference.
btw, how urgent do i need to get it fixed. i will need to get it doone, as i don't want to affect the other catalytic convertor. the funny thing is that the car just passed smog like a few weeks ago.

If the altima has a v6 I would guess a cat is responsible for only one bank of cylinders, in which case one bad one wont affect the other.
Aftermarket cats sometimes make different versions for Cali. Magnaflow's Carsound brand does that.
