BTW, even if carfax reported nothing negative, you should realize that doesn't mean the car has never been in an accident. I owned a car which was in a minor accident while I owned it. The other guy's insurance covered it and we did everything legit and above board at a respectable body shop, but that incident and repairs never showed up on carfax. I still disclosed it to the buyer when it came time to sell a couple of years later, but if I hadn't, he would have never known.

So don't consider a clean carfax any kind of guarantee. It's just the first step/test. The next would be a pre-purchase inspection.

You may know this already, but just in case others don't, I thought I should post it anyway.

Also, Autocheck is another source as well.

My previous vehicle accident was not reported to Carfax, but instead it showed up Autocheck.
