car idles @ 2,000 rpm at start up wtf?

Thumbs up car idles @ 2,000 rpm at start up wtf?
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else in here is having the same issues I'm having on the car. Car idles at 2,000 rpm when ever first start the car and after not driving it for awhile like when I'm at work. It drops down to 1,000 RPM after 3 mins, is that normal, from 2,000 rpm to 1,000 rpm after 3 mins?? Shouldn't it be 1,500 rpm at start up and then back down to 1,00 rpm? car is an 06 with only 18k miles on it. Any solution? Thanks everyone!!

Sounds like you own a Honda. It's pretty normal for our car and other Hondas.

It will always do that, it's cold so it's gonna idle high for a bit.

Ya all cars idle high from cold start. Hondas just a tad higher. its normal

the s2000 is a pretty temperamental car...but this isn't uncommon or damaging.
