I think your in the right. They owe the money. Crossed out shit on a contract isn't worth a whole lot unless you don't have a copy with it not crossed out. Even then your best claim is that they crossed it out AFTER u signed and then made copies and you never got a copy before the walked away.
THAT is the reason things are typed, so there's no confusion. They have already been shady in doing this kind of buisness.

A sale with a car dealer is NOT final until she drives the car off the lot. Up until then the buyer can cancel the deal. Even if she signed all the docs and paid for the car.
Tell her/him to look it up in the dealer handbook and take the dealer the copy. They will probably refund the money to avoid problems.

The word "executed" can be read in different ways. You read it as the car in the process of being built. They however will read it as they started the process of ordering the car, in in their eyes it has been executed.
